ABOUT ME

Kraig Millar is a inspirational fiction writer. His first novella, Caught Off Balance, was just published in November 2014. Kraig has lived most of his life in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado. He now lives on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, engaging in his favorite outdoor activities amongst the splendor along the coast.

The look of shock is expected when I mention that I moved from Colorado to Mississippi. 'Why would you do that' is the typical question. So let me explain.

After a job layoff in 2009, Karin and I decided to tour the country in our 26' travel trailer. We crossed the country, visiting with friends and family along the way. We worked one summer at a campground in West Virginia. We worked a seasonal gig at Amazon.com in Kentucky.  Somewhere along the way, we ended up passing through the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. We crossed the bridge over Biloxi Bay and made a right turn into downtown Ocean Springs. We instantly fell in love.

Between the live oak trees, the shops and the various eateries with wonderful music echoing from within, we decided that someday, we would come back and visit.

And that we did. After some time well spent in North Carolina with my parents, Karin and I returned to Ocean Springs. We took whatever jobs we could find at the time, rented a place and began the transition to become one with our surroundings. We immediately fell in love with the place, the people and the environment. We found a geodesic dome which we now call home. And we are here to stay.

Honestly, I do miss Colorado. My kids, Amanda and Joshua are there. We maintain contact with many friends. We've made friends here. The weather is wonderful. I do not miss the cold. Southern hospitality exists! And finally, what a difference in the traffic and population!

Karin and I love to write, cycle, kayak and do anything else in tune with the outdoor life.
